Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope e.V. collects your data in order to inform you and communicate with you, for documentation and fulfillment of legal obligations to provide evidence, for statistical evaluations and for the implementation of donor retention and recruitment measures in accordance with Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation.
For the fulfillment of our tasks, your data will be forwarded to service providers in the areas of analysis, archiving, printing, shipping, advertising or payment transactions, if necessary. A transfer to Switzerland (a so-called "third country" with an appropriate level of data protection) also takes place if necessary. When participating in our online protest campaigns, in addition to the request and your personal comments, your first and last name as well as your Email address will be transmitted to the named addressees.
In principle, Sign of Hope stores your data for as long as it is necessary for the purpose of its processing. You have the right to object to the use of your data for the purpose of donor recruitment and retention at any time. In addition, you are entitled to request information about the data we have stored about you. To do so, please contact info@hoffnungszeichen.de. In the case of incorrect data, you have the right to request that the data be corrected or, in the case of inadmissible data storage, that the data be deleted. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.
You are only obliged to provide your personal data if required by law. For example, if you do not provide us with your address when making a donation, we will not be able to inform you about the use or about our work. We will also not be able to issue you with a donation receipt. For an efficient use of funds according to our association's purpose as well as for the targeted approach of our donors according to their interests, we resort to methods of automated decision-making.
Data for the care of our donors
a. What data from you is processed for what purpose?
If we have received data from you, we will generally only process it for the purposes for which we received or collected it. Data for the care of our donors is information from your personal environment that we receive from you in the context of our donor care and recruitment, insofar as this is necessary for adequate information and care. This may also be special personal data according to Article 9.
b. On what legal basis are these data processed?
We process this data on the basis of your consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 a and Art. 9 para. 2 a, as well as according to para. 2 d as a non-profit organisation within the scope of our lawful activities to persons who have regular contact with us as well as para. 2 e if the data subject has obviously made this data public.
c. Are there other recipients of the personal data besides the data controller?
Data processing for other purposes can only be considered if the legal requirements necessary in this respect pursuant to Art. 6 (4) DSGVO exist. We will, of course, observe any information obligations pursuant to Art. 13 (3) DSGVO and Art. 14 (4) DSGVO in that case.
d. How long will the data be stored?
If personal data is processed on the basis of consent from you, you have the right to revoke the consent at any time with effect for the future towards us. As a matter of principle, we carry out an examination of data towards the end of a calendar year with regard to the need for further processing. Due to the amount of data, this check is carried out with regard to specific types of data or purposes of processing.

Google Maps
To make it easier for you to find us and for us to show you the locations of our work, we have integrated map material from the Google Maps service of Google LLC into our website via an API. In order to display the content in your browser, Google must receive your IP address, otherwise Google could not provide you with this embedded content.
The legal basis of this data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 b) DSGVO, as the IP address is needed to deliver the content to you. In this processing, our cooperation with Google is based on a joint responsibility agreement pursuant to Art. 26 DSGVO, which can be retrieved here.

Newsletter
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an Email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the Email address provided and that you consent to receiving the newsletter.
To ensure a consensual newsletter dispatch, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure. In the course of this, the potential recipient allows himself to be included in a distribution list. Subsequently, the user is given the opportunity to confirm the registration in a legally secure manner by means of a confirmation Email. Only if the confirmation is made, the address is actively included in the distribution list.
We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and offers.
The newsletter software used is Newsletter2Go. Your data is thereby transmitted to Newsletter2Go GmbH. Newsletter2Go is prohibited from selling your data and using it for purposes other than sending newsletters. Newsletter2Go is a German, certified provider, which was selected according to the requirements of the Data Protection Regulation and the Federal Data Protection Act.
