Food in difficult times

In the Dowa and Ntchisi districts in the central region of Malawi, 80% of the population live from their own agriculture. This is not enough to provide food security due to climate change and unsustainable farming practices. The effects of these problems are the lack of food security, poverty and social problems such as high school dropout rates and massive discrimination against women. The project supports smallholder farmers in livestock and agriculture to better provide for their families. The project reaches around 1,500 subsistence farmers living in 40-50 villages in the project region. The indirect target group comprises about 6,750 people. This is made up of household members.
